The Residential Services Department at Pathway Services is a 24/7/365 operation. We are consistently providing quality care for the people we support. Pathway currently operates nine residential group homes, Community Living Service Arrangements (CILAs), all within Jacksonville’s city limits. Pathway takes great pride in the fact that our homes look like any other home in the neighborhoods in which we live. We also take pride in being helpful, responsible and respectful neighbors. Pathway provides support to those with a variety of ability levels. Our homes are accessible, accommodating, family-oriented, safe and staffed around the clock. Our homes also highlight the three Cs…they are clean, comfortable and cozy.
Pathway Services would not be the provider of choice in the Jacksonville area without its remarkable staff. Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) engage in 40 hours of classroom education, followed by 80 hours of on-the-job training. We promote a fun and friendly work environment, where our brand new DSPs have the opportunity to interact with our more seasoned and experienced staff, as well as with the House Supervisor of the home. Every one of our homes has a House Supervisor in charge of the care that is provided within the home. Each home also has a dedicated Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) who serves as the hub of the care provided by Pathway. The QIDP oversees each person’s progress throughout the year, developing a variety of programs specific to each person’s ability level. Our goal is to help each person we support achieve their highest potential.
Pathway Services also provides 24-hour nursing care. The Registered Nurse Trainer (RNT) at Pathway supervises the Authorized Direct Support Professionals (ADSP) with medication administration. The RNT also teaches the medication administration class and completes medication administration oversight to each staff member who passes the medication class with those directly in their care. The ADSPs are then authorized to pass medications to the people we support under the RNT’s nursing license. In addition to having a RNT on staff, Pathway also works directly with StationMD, a telehealth provider that our staff can access 24/7/365 regarding any medical situation. Partnering with StationMD results in less visits for the people we support to the Emergency Room due to having a licensed physician at our disposal any time of day.
Pathway Services does not exist to do for the people we support, but rather to do with them. Our job is to teach them the life skills necessary to become as independent as possible. Independence can mean several different things for those we support. For some, it might mean holding a job in the community without a job coach, building natural supports in the work place. For others, it might be as simple as learning to tie a shoe. Regardless of each specific person’s ability level, everyone has something to contribute, something they are uniquely gifted at doing. Our job is to find out what that is and then help each person nurture and develop that ability or abilities.
