Vocational Program

In addition to the CDS Program, we also operate a Vocational Department. This is the program that highlights Pathway’s Work Crew. There are a variety of opportunities within the Vocational arena, including recycling cardboard, rolling, cutting and baking Pathway’s Bow Wow Bits dog biscuits, car washing/detailing with an assist from Westown Ford, satisfying a contract with a local business, such as working with CCK Automations from time to time, or engaging in janitorial work at Pathway and within the Jacksonville community. Serving on Pathway’s Work Crew provides the people supported at Pathway with the opportunity to learn real on-the-job duties and responsibilities that cannot be manufactured outside of actual work activities. The folks in this program have a desire to learn and develop the skills necessary to eventually obtain a job in the community and engage in community
integrated employment, where they not only work at minimum wage or better, but also work around other people without disabilities and away from staff members paid to work with them. The ultimate goal for anyone serving on the Work Crew is to obtain a job in the community working at or for a local business.
