Job Summary
Provides support to the Residential Program Facilitator. Assists in monitoring programs, services, and activities for assigned people supported within a residential setting. Is supervised and evaluated by the Residential Program Facilitator.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assumes the responsibilities outlined in Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) Job Description.
- Is familiar with all residential homes, current staff, individuals living in the homes, various schedules. Monitors Residential sites regularly.
- Serves as Behavior Support Committee (BSC) Chair.
- Works cooperatively with Residential Management employees to ensure adequate staff coverage at all locations. Serves as back-up to Residential Supervisors, ensuring twenty-four/seven (24/7) coverage for the residential homes.
- Promotes teamwork and cooperation among supervised employees, peers, supervisors, and
- staff of other programs, along with being a mentor to Residential Management staff.
- Completes all annual training, QIDP, and Direct Support Person (DSP) requirements.
- Attends Residential Management Meetings to record minutes and distribute as directed.
- Ensures medical information is shared and processed through Medical Aides, Nursing, and residential homes.
- Serves as direct supervisor to Medical Aide staff. Is responsible for managing Medical Aide employees, including the processing and approval of time sheets/time keeping system in a timely manner, the approval/denial of paid leave time requests, documenting all tardiness and attendance issues, performance evaluations, and terminations. Conducts training for new/existing Medical Aide staff.
- Is responsible for managing Residential On-Call Substitute employees, including the processing and approval of time sheets/time keeping system in a timely manner, the approval/denial of paid leave time requests, documenting all tardiness and attendance issues, performance evaluations, and terminations.
- Secondary contact for Residential QIDP’s and Residential Supervisory staff if Residential Program Facilitator is unavailable.
- Conducts training for new/existing QIDP and Residential Supervisory staff.
- May be responsible for Residential Supervisory and/or case management responsibilities when vacancies exist within the department.
- Oversees the Residential Intermittent CILA Program.
- Maintains proper driver eligibility, background clearance, and required QIDP and DSP Certification.
- May be required to assist during emergency situations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Must have verifiable documentation of education. Bachelor’s degree in human service field or related field that meets requirements for QIDP as defined by the Illinois Department of Human Services with one or more years of experience programming for individuals who have developmental disabilities and other physical and mental challenges required. Must meet the requirements of Direct Support Person (DSP). Able to successfully complete medication administration authorization. Must have a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
This is a professional position, which requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Successful completion of the Short Test of Functional Health Literacy in Adults (S-TOFHLA) testing ability to read. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to changing needs of the Residential Services program is required. Ability to interact and communicate with individuals supported by our Agency, employees, parents/guardians, State/Federal staff members, and other supervisory/management personnel. Able to appropriately utilize available computer programs and systems required.
Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation. Successful completion of Essential Functioning Test verifying ability to lift at least seventy-five (75) pounds. May have flexible varied schedule with nights and/or weekends required.
